GMG Students Are Resilient
Hello, I'm Mrs. Gray and this is my confession of a Music Mom. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of changes have happened in the lives of not only adults, but also our children in the past month or so. As always our number one priority is the safety of our students and staff members. During this challenging time, our students and GMG families have certainly upped their game with being resilient during these changing times.
Now I have to admit that I've never experienced anything quite like this and I'm sure you feel the same. I remember when we had a really bad winter storm and our daughter was enrolled in an online K-12 school. During this time I was thinking that Kierra was staying up to date with her work, only to find out that she thought she didn't have to do her school work because everyone else was out due to the storm. That was quite interesting, yet I could see how it made sense from an 8th graders viewpoint, but I'd never tell her that.
Online everything is a new learning curve for a lot of people, but I'm so pleased because our instructors are successfully conducting online music lessons with our students and our students are continuing to grow in spite of these challenges. Perhaps this transition is much easier for our students because at GMG our students already have access to additional online resources and the involvement of their parents. Overall, I must say that our students and their families have done a fantastic job during this transition and we look forward to our student's continued progress! Bravo to our GMG families!
